Terms of Service

MUAE

1. About these terms

These terms govern purchases made through muae.uk and the use of the MUAE website. They should be read together with our Refund and Returns Policy, Shipping and Delivery Policy and Privacy Policy.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including statutory consumer rights.

2. About us

MUAE is a trading name of La Maison London Limited, a company registered in England and Wales.

Company number: 07178915

Registered office: 20 Wenlock Road, London, United Kingdom, N1 7GU

General enquiries: studio@muae.uk

Customer care: care@muae.uk

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have legal capacity to enter into a contract to place an order. By ordering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorised to use the selected payment method.

4. Product information

We take reasonable care to describe and photograph products accurately. Screens and lighting conditions can affect how colours appear. Measurements are approximate unless expressly stated otherwise.

MUAE vessels are hand-cast and hand-finished. Natural variation in tone, pores, texture and surface character is part of the making process. These variations do not affect your rights if goods are faulty, unsafe or materially different from their description.

5. Candle and fire safety

Candles involve an open flame. You must follow the care and safety instructions supplied with the product and published on our website. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep candles away from children, pets, draughts, flammable materials and heat-sensitive surfaces. Use only the insert specified for the relevant MUAE vessel and do not modify the vessel or insert.

Nothing in this clause excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

6. Orders and contract formation

Your order is an offer to buy the selected products. After you place an order, we may send an acknowledgement confirming that we have received it. This acknowledgement does not necessarily mean that the order has been accepted.

A binding contract is formed when we send an order-acceptance or dispatch confirmation, or when we otherwise clearly confirm acceptance. If we cannot accept an order, we will notify you and refund any amount taken.

We may decline or cancel an order for legitimate reasons, including an obvious pricing error, suspected fraud, payment failure, inability to deliver to the address, legal or regulatory restrictions, or lack of materials. We will not cancel on a discriminatory or otherwise unlawful basis.

7. Prices and payment

Prices are shown in the currency selected on the website. The total price, including applicable taxes and delivery charges, will be shown before you submit the order.

Payment is handled through the methods offered at checkout. You agree to provide current and accurate billing information. If a displayed price is clearly incorrect, we may contact you before accepting the order and give you the option to proceed at the correct price or cancel.

8. Made-to-order products

All vessels are hand-cast to order unless stated otherwise. The expected dispatch period is shown on the relevant product page and in our Shipping and Delivery Policy.

Made-to-order production does not by itself remove a consumer's statutory cancellation rights. A cancellation exception may apply where a product is made to the customer's individual specifications or clearly personalised. Where that exception applies, it will be identified before the order is placed.

9. Availability and changes

Products, finishes, fragrances and packaging may be updated or withdrawn. We may make minor changes that do not materially affect the product's function, safety or overall description. If a material change is required after an order is accepted, we will contact you and explain the available options.

10. Delivery

Dispatch and delivery are governed by our Shipping and Delivery Policy. Risk of loss or damage passes to a consumer when the goods are delivered to the consumer or a person identified by them, unless the consumer independently commissioned a carrier not offered by us.

11. Cancellation, returns and faulty goods

Cancellation, return and refund rights are explained in our Refund and Returns Policy. That policy forms part of these terms. Statutory rights remain unaffected.

12. Intellectual property

The MUAE name, MUAE® trade mark, maker's mark, product designs, photographs, text, graphics and other website content are owned by or licensed to La Maison London Limited and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may view and use the website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, license, scrape or commercially exploit protected content without prior written permission, except where the law permits.

No licence to use any MUAE trade mark or product design is granted by your use of the website or purchase of a product.

13. Reviews and submitted content

If you submit a review, image or other content, it must be truthful, lawful and your own or used with permission. You must not submit content that is defamatory, discriminatory, infringing, misleading, malicious or contains another person's confidential information.

Where you give us permission to publish submitted content, you grant La Maison London Ltd a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, reproduce and adapt that content for the stated purpose. You retain ownership of your content. We will not imply an endorsement that you did not provide.

14. Website availability and external links

We aim to keep the website accurate and available but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. We may suspend access for maintenance, security or operational reasons.

Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability or privacy practices.

15. Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded.

If you are a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of contract or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or for business losses arising from a consumer purchase.

If you purchase products wholly or mainly for business use, contact us before ordering if you require separate business terms.

16. Events outside our reasonable control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control. If such an event materially affects an accepted order, we will contact you and take reasonable steps to minimise the effect. Your legal rights, including any right to cancel for serious delay, remain unaffected.

17. Personal information

We process personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Please read that policy for details of how and why information is used and the rights available to you.

18. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in law, our products or the way the website operates. The terms in force when your order is accepted will normally apply to that order. The latest version will be published with its effective date.

19. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections of, and bring proceedings in, the courts of the part of the United Kingdom where you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, mandatory local consumer protections may also apply.

Please contact care@muae.uk first so that we can try to resolve a concern directly.
